PostSubject: PC fail   Sat Aug 21, 2010 10:36 pm

Well my PC has been slowin down alot lately and i was planning to backup my important files and reformat my drive. Well today my PC froze. and i turned it off, and when it turned back on a realy loud ierd \"***\" clicking noise was comming from it, and it wouldnt turn on. so i opened the case to find the ticking sourrce was my TAK dedicated ancient 10 gb drive. so i unplugged it and now my PC turns on. :/ but i have lost 90% of my TAK files :/ and am in the proccess of sending 30 GB of stuff to my external TB drive and will reformat later today when it is done. this just ruined my day :/

\"****\"... That sucks. At least your don't have to restore your computer to factory settings every year like I do... I hate PC fails. Sad

well, guys i had to restore my xp to factory settings, and then i took some of sages advice and installed a Linux OS. Its sick as \"****\' man!!! xP but unfortunatly my PC's bios cannot do the USB boot to install linux. and my CD burner is all burned out. so i "cheated" and used Wubi Wubi and its going 2x as fast as my xp OS and its being choked of resources by not being installed on its own partition on my drive.

I don't see why people say that, it does nothing that XP can't do, isn't as fast and introduces all the annoying things from vista. Everything it has to make using the computer easier just makes it more difficult to find what you want through a million submenus and stupid noob friendly terms. Just look at the control panel to see what I mean.

Lord hawk try out micro xp, its ordinary xp just stripped down without the useless stuff that slows the computer down so it runs much faster. It installs in 5 minutes and is only 74 mb

Only if it is 64bit win 7, there is a 64 bit win xp so you could use 8 gigs of ram

any more advantages apart from it looking nice?

win 7 is extremely user friendly. But I guess if you know a lot about computers that wouldn't mean much to you.

I forgot xp had 64 bit Razz .

I donno I had XP on my desktop for god knows how long and vista on my laptops (ugh!)

I got this computer a year and a half ago and went Win 7 64-bit ultimate. It has non of the problems that vista had (and its still pretty, like vista lol) and is fells better and more functional to me than XP .

And hell with Win 7 if you want XP back for a day or two you can always run in XP mode I believe.

i've used windows 7 and one this i can say is i didn't find it user friendly, i have to pin all of the things i am ever going to use to the task bar otherwise it takes at least 5 minutes to find Shocked maybe its because im used to xp or because i'm noob with computers but it just felt so alien the first time i used it
one thing i like about windows 7 i the shake and snap features but i wouldn't buy it just for that

You can download it for free off of torrents, its not official but a modded version of windows. It works best if your computer is getting old so you should get a big improvement in speed although I would recommend dual booting with your curent os in case anything goes wrong.
I don't use it myself but my friend who mostly uses linux has it just to play games and the stuff that is windows only, with ordinary xp his laptop couldn't run CS Source but with micro xp he can run it smoothly on minimum settings. So if your computer is getting slow its definately worth trying, who knows maybe it will let us load the game before capt for once What a Face

here i have a computer with win7 and mine is XP 32bits
when i get a better one i will put XP 64bits
i have to agree with ace about submenus, i think xp is so much more easy to work
i just use in win7 shortcuts cuz i cant locate myself there...im trying to get use to it, but i use a long time XP and even linux debian i think easier to work
